Technology for the environment
The Conference Centre di Villa Erba is equipped with a modern, renewable energy, air-conditioning system, which uses 6-7°C water taken directly from Lake Como, thus eliminating the need for thermodynamic-cycle motors.
This plant reduces CO2 and heat emissions into the atmosphere by 95%, and it considerably reduces electricity consumption. The absence of artificially air-cooled refrigerators also cancels the acoustic disturbance, eliminates refrigerant gases and reduces maintenance costs.
The recent challenge of Villa Erba conference centre is linked to social commitment, with the project FOOD FOR GOOD, managed by Federcongressi&eventi. The project provides for the recovery of food surpluses from the events, and redistributes them to charitable organizations, in collaboration with the non-profit associations Banco Alimentare ed Equoevento a enti caritatevoli.
The Association, with the help of Banco Alimentare and Equoevento, puts the managers of the catering companies in contact with non-profit organizations that provide for the recovery of excess food at the end of the events.
The recovered food is then delivered to charitable institutions such as homes, soup kitchens and refugee centres.
In its business management and organization, Villa Erba has voluntarily adopted standards of transparency, ethics, and sustainability.
Its management model is in constant evolution, and its values concretely respond to topical economic and social issues.
